Learning to one day becoming an aviator is a long and hard progress. Flight Training historically has been divided into a practical and theoretical element.
The theoretical element is mainly taught in a classroom setting during what is called “Ground School”. Our more senior cadets who are currently eligible for the PPTC or GPTC are currently participating in a National Ground School program which is a pre-requisite for their training courses, but for the remainder of the squadron an earlier exposure to the theoretical side of aviation is essential to ensure retention and to successfully pass the knowledge threshold requirements of the PPTC or GPTC when they are eligible to attend those courses. At 525 we host a Junior Ground School program where all relevant topics are covered in detail. This knowledge can not only apply for the anticipated GPTC or PPTC in the cadet’s future but to our future computer assisted simulator course (CASC) and familiarization (FAM) flying initiatives. No sign up for Ground School is required but attendance at all sessions is highly recommended for those interested in a aviation career. Please see the info below.
