Learning to one day becoming an aviator is a long and hard progress. Flight Training historically has been divided into a practical and theoretical element.
The theoretical element is mainly taught in a classroom setting during what is called “Ground School”. Our more senior cadets who are currently eligible for the PPTC or GPTC are currently participating in a National Ground School program which is a pre-requisite for their training courses, but for the remainder of the squadron an earlier exposure to the theoretical side of aviation is essential to ensure retention and to successfully pass the knowledge threshold requirements of the PPTC or GPTC when they are eligible to attend those courses. At 525 we host a Junior Ground School program where all relevant topics are covered in detail. This knowledge can not only apply for the anticipated GPTC or PPTC in the cadet’s future but to our future computer assisted simulator course (CASC) and familiarization (FAM) flying initiatives. No sign up for Ground School is required but attendance at all sessions is highly recommended for those interested in a aviation career. Please see the info below. What: Junior Ground School Who: Open to all cadets of 525 RCACS When: Sunday’s from 1300-1430 – starting Nov 14th till Dec 12th. Remembrance Day is a when we reflect on the sacrifice our fellow country men and women have made to secure our freedom and ensure peace through out the world.
Through their service during states of national emergencies or helping ensure the safety and stability of countries abroad we take a few moments every November 11th to reflect on their continuing struggles and sacrifices. Due to the ongoing pandemic and health safety measures the City of West Vancouver have chosen to do a pre-recording of our local ceremony where a small contingent of 525 cadets represented the Squadron. With public gatherings still restricted I employee all of our 525 family of Cadets, Adult Staff and parents to take a moment privately on Nov 11th to remember our brave men and women serving in the armed forces. Please see the link below to view the pre-recorded ceremony. Pre-Recorded Ceremony (YouTube) - https://youtu.be/WgEMgIbH8Jc |
