Squadron Ground School Time: 1900-2100 Location: 1513 Forbes Ave, North Vancouver (Blue Building) Date: 26 Sept (Tuesdays) On Saturday, 26 September, we will be starting our Ground School Program. Cadets participating in the national online ground school must also participate in the local ground school program. Cadets are to sign up at the squadron and speak to CV Frankowski, T if they attend either ground school or the national ground school program. Online National Ground School The national ground school program is designed as a mandatory course for any cadet interested in attending the glider or power pilot training course. Cadets must have 45 hours of guided online training and write an entrance exam before the course's completion date. Exam marks are used to assist with the selection of the pilot course. Cadets are to sign up before the end of our training night on the 25 September and speak to CV Frankowski, T, to be registered for the program. Cadets are also reminded that the locally run ground school program on Tuesday evenings will be essential to succeed in the national ground school program. Squadron Stand Down - (No cadets 2nd & 9th October) The squadron will be observing National Truth and Reconciliation Day on the 2nd of October and won't be parading. The squadron also will be taking a celebratory break during Thanksgiving and will not be parading on 9th October. Because of these two events, the squadron will not meet on our regular Monday night training evenings until 16 October. The weekend activities and Ground School (Tuesdays) and Wilderness Leadership (Thursdays) are still running as planned. Speak to the OICs if you have any questions or concerns. An annual general meeting (AGM) is a yearly gathering of the squadron parents and interested community members. At an AGM, the current directors of the SSC present an annual report containing information for parents about the squadrons performance and strategy going forward. Parents with voting rights vote on current issues, budgets and appointments to the SSCs’ board of directors. See attached documents for the invitation details and proxy voting sheet if you can not attend. Questions to the parents SLACK channel.
