The Royal Canadian Air Cadets is a youth organization open to male and female youth from 12 to 18 years of age. The three aims of the program are: 1) To promote in youth the attributes of good citizenship; 2) To promote physical fitness, and; 3) To stimulate an interest in the air activities of the Canadian Forces. We offer opportunities that youth would not be able to experience in other programs. For example, Air Cadets have the opportunity receive training to become a glider pilot and receive their Private Pilot's License. Upon completion of certain portions of the Air Cadet program, cadets can earn high school credits that can be applied towards graduation. Additional activities offered by the squadron include our precision drill team, flight simulator training, advanced bush survival skills, public speaking, first aid training, and our marching band. Some of the most memorable experiences for cadets are the opportunities they have to participate in summer camps. Each year, cadets have the opportunity to apply for summer training courses that range in length from 3 weeks to as long as 7 weeks. During summer training, cadets learn and specialize in different parts of the air cadet program in such areas as physical fitness, leadership, aircrew survival, aviation, and musicianship. Additionally, our senior cadets have the opportunity to seek summer employment as staff cadets at Cadet Training Centres. As well, senior cadets have the opportunity to participate in exchanges to locations around the world from Japan to the Netherlands. If you are interested in joining the air cadet program in West Vancouver, please email or us for more information. |
