The annual Summer Thunder field training exercise provides an opportunity for cadets to participate in activities teaching leadership in a survival scenario, physical fitness and general survival knowledge -- all essential parts of the Air Cadet Program. This multi-unit training weekend is divided into a Junior, Senior and Solo course in the Columbia Valley south of Chilliwack, BC. It was a great success. Thanks to all the cadet and adult staff that came together to put on this years event. We had over 230 cadets on the ground. Looking forward to seeing you all again for Summer Thunder 2020. Cadets from 525 had the opportunity to have a familiarization ride in either the Air Cadets very own C-182 tow aircraft of their 2-33A Gliders.
On May 24th, cadets had a chance to take part in an introductory air rifle marksmanship activity. The NCOIC, Sgt Orlowski, led the cadets, many of whom were shooting the Daisy 853C Air Rifle for the first time, through basic training on the parts of the rifle and safe conduct on the range, before giving the cadets multiple opportunities to shoot grouping targets on a shortened range setup. All mothers had an opportunity to see what their son or daughter does then they participate in our range program.
After months of hard work the 525 and 103 combined band participated in the lower mainland marching band competition. They competed in the very prestigious Mil "B" division.
Cadets from 525 participated in the final fitness assessment of the 2018/2019 training year. They were able to gauge their progress from the start of the training year and got to have some fun!
