Spring Thunder 2019

Activity: Multi Squadron Spring Exercise
Who: Level 3 and above Cadets
Where: Columbia Valley Training Area A

Description

525 will be hosting a multi squadron exercise running from 29th – 31st March 19. This is an opportunity for level 3 and above cadets from 525 to participate in mandatory survival training conducive for their successful completion of their training level’s

The exercise will be broken up into four main training goals. Advance Survival, Field Movements, Land Navigation, and Survival First Aid.

Joining Instructions outlining more details, kit lists and permissions forms will be distributed on March 5th. 

Course Cadets will be expected to attend parade on March 19th and 26th to receive the classroom portion of the training that will be covered during the weekend.

Staff Cadets (Level 4 & 5) will be expected to attend the O group on March 13th and two staff cadet professional development sessions on March 18th and 25th during specter flight.

CFB Comox Tour 2019

Activity: CFB Comox Tour 2019
Who: Up to 40 total cadets
When: Departure: Wednesday, March 20th, 1500h | Return: Friday, March 22nd, 1700h 
Where: Meet at Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal
Dress: Travel and tours in C2 uniform | Civilian Attire for evening activities

Description 

525 will travel to CFB Comox, BC's Canadian Air Force Base, for a multi-day tour.
Locations of interest to be visited include 442 Squadron (Search and Rescue), 407 Squadron (Long Range Patrol Aircraft), Control Tower, Fire Hall and the Comox Air Force Museum.

Cadets will be dropped off by parents at Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal, on 20 March at 1500h.
Cadets will be picked up by parents at the ferry terminal, on 22 March, at 1700h.
The group will travel as ferry foot passengers to Nanaimo, and then by chartered bus to Comox.
All personnel will be staying in barrack-style accommodations, and will take all meals at the Combined Mess Hall on base. The group will also have the opportunity to go swimming on the evening of the 21st. Cadets will conduct all travel in full uniform, and must conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner at all times.

Due to government funding restrictions, food and transportation costs will need to be funded by the cadets personally. The cost of this trip is $115 per person, payable by cheque to 525 Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
Cadets must bring money to buy dinner on the Ferry, and may also want to buy souvenirs at the Museum gift shop.

525’s Range team has been practicing throughout the year in anticipation for the annual Range Competition located at the 103 LHQ.

Details are to be announced once finalized but all range team members are expected to attend to represent their squadron.
